Paste Goes to PAX East: Metro: Last Light

Added: 30.03.2013 12:18 | 0 views | 0 comments

Paste: "'Definitely, the scariest monsters of Metro 2033 were humans. And so it will be in the second game.' Author Dmitry Glukhovsky, who wrote the post-apocalyptic novel that inspired the 2010 shooter, tells me the world of upcoming sequel Metro: Last Light wont be any sunnier. Youll battle giant spiders and flee mutated creatures in the blasted Moscow tunnels of Last Light, 'but those are just beasts. And no animal on this Earth is as cruel, as dangerous a predator, as the human being.'"

Metro: Last Light Preview - Going Underground | The Escapist

The Escapist: "When I last saw Metro: Last Light at E3 2011, I wasn't overwhelmed. Sure, it looked like a fun shooter, but there were a lot of fun shooters on the show floor, and it didn't stand out to me. That was nearly two years ago; since then, Last Light was delayed by THQ, found itself in the hands of new publisher Deep Silver, and is now scheduled for a May release. The post-apocalyptic FPS was on display at PAX East this weekend, and I had the opportunity to play it for about 40 minutes, getting a better sense of its gameplay, environments, and survival horror elements. I left my second viewing of the game far more impressed than my first."

Metro: Last Light pre-order content revealed

Surprise - it's guns! Plus Ranger difficulty mode.
The first Metro's Ranger Mode was certainly the most atmospheric, if not the easiest, way of playing the game. It wiped the UI clean, lowered your health, and hid away most of the ammo that had been scattered a bit too liberally all over the game. You also had to pay for it, however, with the Ranger Pack only turning up after you handed over 240 Microsoft Points

Offers a HUD-free display, deadlier combat and limited resources.

Ranger Mode ups the challenge by removing the HUD, providing deadlier combat, and dramatically limiting resources such as ammunition and gas mask filters. In this mode players will be kitted out with exclusive weapon, the Russian AKSU, and an additional 100 military grade rounds.

Pre-order from GAME and you'll receive the Special Pre-Order Edition, which also includes the RPK, a machine gun with a high rate of fire.

Metro: Last Light will be released on May 17 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
